Craig

Living with Fahr's

Craig is a retired foreman in the gas utilities industry.  He knew in 2001 that something was not quite right.  He had problems with his vision and felt fearful and emotional.  He suspected MS or Parkinson's disease and was tested for this but his results came back normal.  He also had two brain scans, but the doctors couldn't see anything.

He carried on with his life as best he could, then in 2018, with his anxiety through the roof, he couldn't leave the house and his vision became worse.  At the age of 62 he retired.

Craig found out about his diagnosis shortly after his Uncle passed away at the age of 83 from a suspected stroke, but which later turned out to be Fahr's Disease.

Top 3 Challenges

Craig is very tired all the time and finds sleep hard to get. He never feels rested. His top 3 challenges of living with Fahr's are:

  1. Anxiety
  2. Vision
  3. Always in fear of the future or my health

Managing Fahr's

Craig manages his Fahr's by keeping fit and he also finds that interacting with people takes his mind off his condition. His wife, Ruth, is also very supportive.

Craig says "...you can carry on a very productive life but you have to work a little harder that’s all! Just look around and you will see what I mean. I am very thankful every day!"

Fahr's Support

"Fahr Beyond has given me an outlet to know I am not alone in this fight".

Fahr Beyond has given Craig the space to be able to questions about this disease, which he says he is very thankful for.
